Update Time:2025-07-24 08:06:27

On the evening of July 20th, the 2025 Formula Student UK (FSUK) concluded at Silverstone Circuit in Northamptonshire, UK. As the only Chinese team participating in this year's event, WUT Racing Team of our university overcame numerous challenges and clinched the championship in race car design with its indomitable spirit and outstanding strength. This fully demonstrated the team's solid engineering design skills, as well as its excellent organizational and innovative capabilities in overall race car development.

Formula Student UK (FSUK), organized by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) in the UK, stands as one of Europe’s largest and most eminent student engineering competitions. Open to universities worldwide, it requires student teams to design, manufacture, test, and ultimately drive a single-seat formula race car to compete within one year. FSUK aims to provide students with a platform to bridging theoretical knowledge and complex engineering practice, while holistically developing their abilities in design, manufacturing, project management, marketing, and teamwork. The 2025 edition saw fierce competition, attracting over 150 teams worldwide, including top UK universities such as the University of Oxford and Imperial College London, to compete against each other.

WUT Racing Team comprises members from multiple departments and schools, including the School of Automotive Engineering and the School of International Education. The team has participated in the Formula Student China (FSC) for 15 consecutive years since 2010, accumulating profound technical expertise in chassis systems, aerodynamics, vehicle body, and powertrain systems. WUT Racinbg Team claimed the national runner-up title in last year's domestic competition. This participation in FSUK, WUT Racing Team's first overseas competition, signifies a crucial step in enhancing its engineering and competitive capabilities and advancing its internationalization efforts.

During their participation in the UK, WUT Racing Team members showcased a high level of professional competence and indomitable spirit. The excellent design of their race car won wide acclaim from other teams at the event. Team members actively prepared for the static events and intensified their training in professional English vocabulary, eventually making it to the final three teams in race car design and achieving the remarkable feat of a non-English-speaking team winning the race car design title in a European competition.

In their debut at FSUK, WUT Racing Team showcased the vigor and talent of Chinese university students, earning unanimous commendation from the jury. This championship is the starting point of the team's international journey. In the future, the team will continue to deepen research and development in fields such as vehicle dynamics, hybrid powertrain integartion, aerodynamics, and advanced vehicle body material technologies, continuously produce technological achievements, promote international academic exchanges, and constantly showcase the outstanding strength of Chinese university students to the world, contributing "WUT’s engineering strength" to China's automotive industry.
