WUT students participated in the 15th National Games

Held from November 9th to 21st in Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, the 15th National Games witnessed the participation of 24 high-level athletes from WUT. They competed in seven major sports including athletics, tennis, swimming, badminton, table tennis, basketball, and wushu, ultimately securing 1 gold medal, 1 bronze medal, and multiple excellent rankings, vividly embodying the campus sports culture spirit of “No Sports, No WUT”

On the athletics track, Xu Jialu, a 2025 graduate student from the School of Physical Education, won the gold medal for Hubei Province in the women’s 4×100m relay final with a time of 43.86 seconds. Zeng Keli, a 2025 undergraduate student from the School of Physical Education, claimed the bronze medal in the men’s 100m final with a time of 10.16 seconds. Xiong Shiqi, a 2022 undergraduate student from the School of Management, and Xiao Ziyu, a 2025 graduate student from the School of Physical Education, finished fifth and eighth respectively in the women’s long jump. Huang Jingru, a 2024 undergraduate student from the School of Physical Education, ranked fifth in the women’s discus throw with a distance of 57.76 meters. Chen Yanqi, a 2025 undergraduate student from the School of Physical Education, secured the fifth place in the women’s heptathlon.

On the tennis court, Huang Jilong and Xia Zhiheng, both 2024 undergraduate students from the School of Physical Education, served as key players in the men's team event, helping to secure a fifth place. Xia Shanshan, a coach of our university's high-level tennis team, led Hubei Province’s public tennis team as head coach to a series of successes: a silver medal in women's doubles, and fifth-place finishes in the mixed team and women's singles events.

In addition, in the pool, Wang Baojun, a 2024 undergraduate student from the School of Physical Education, collaborated with his teammates to finish fourth in the men’s 4×200m freestyle relay. On the 3x3 basketball court, Wen Xing, a 2025 graduate student from the School of Physical Education, represented Chongqing Municipality and secured the sixth place in the women’s event.

The participation of WUT’s high-level sports teams in the National Games served as both a key test of their training and a vivid demonstration of its commitment to integrating sports with education. In the future, the university will continue to deepen the integration of sports and education, improve competitive levels, and look forward to more WUT students shining on national and even global sports stages.
